Karen grew up in Washington, D.C. with Joanne, Charles and Nelson — three friends who, for years, were in her inner circle of buddies. They had much fun together in their neighborhood and surrounding communities. Two of their favorite things were music and going to the movies. Times when they’d meet to just “shoot the breeze,” the friends would join others sitting on the side steps of the movie theater. Yes, indeed, those steps have history with the quartet buds. Time progressed and the inner circle friends grew up, got jobs, and family member growth. Nelson moved to North Carolina. Joanne got addicted to heroin and spent time incarcerated. Charles and Karen did their things, etc. There came a point when the quartet lost touch with one another. More than ten years went by with no contact. One day Karen went online to attempt to locate her childhood friends. Her search bore no fruit. About two years later, Karen tried online again. She found an address for Charles. Karen sent him a card with her phone number enclosed. Two days later, her phone rang. It was Charles! They both were elated and talked at length. Online, Karen found a street name, city and state for Joanne but no precise address. She decided to mail a card with hopes that the mail delivery person would know Joanne and get the card to her without benefit of street address numbers. That’s exactly what happened. Days later, Joanne phoned Karen. The long lost friends were thrilled to re-connect. They had a hoot of a good time catching up on the years apart. In her belongings, Karen located an address for Nelson in North Carolina. She hadn’t used it in more than ten years. Was it possible that he still lived there? Karen thought, if not, perhaps the current residents would forward mail to Nelson. Karen sent a card to the address in North Carolina. Nelson was still there! He called Karen days later. They were so pleased to be back in touch. Karen told her friends that she’d found and spoke to each one of them. All around, numbers were exchanged and they came full circle as a quartet again. What a joyous reunion indeed! The greatest reward was to learn that Joanne had been delivered from heroin addiction and been clean for more than ten years. God had drawn her and she became deeply in love with Him. Charles had also been drawn by God and is a fervent Christian and lives devotedly for the Lord. Nelson is seeking and is receptive to learning about the gospel of Christ. Karen is rooted and grounded and gladly walks in truth with King Jesus. Thanks be unto God for bringing the inner circle buddies into His circle of love. Psalm 37:4 – KJV Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. In May 2014, Joanne went to be with the Lord. Oh, how she’s missed — immensely!
